Reading your Instagram insights in the Arabic interface: what does each number mean?
Plenty of Gulf business owners search for Instagram «statistics», then open the app and find no such word. The reason is that the Arabic interface calls the section «الرؤى» (insights) and uses labels such as «المشاهدون» (viewers) and «الحسابات المتفاعلة» (accounts engaged), which can feel unfamiliar to anyone used to older terms like reach and impressions.
In this guide we explain where to find insights and what they require, give you a glossary linking each Arabic label to its meaning as Instagram's help pages define it, clarify what has changed in the terminology, translate every number into a practical question for a small shop or home business, and finish with a weekly routine that takes no more than a quarter of an hour.
Where to find insights: requirements and paths in the app and on the web
The first requirement is simple: your account must be public, whether personal or professional, for insights to appear [2]. If you switch the account to private you lose access to insights, but you can recover your past data by switching back to public within 90 days [2]. Boosting posts and ad insights, on the other hand, are only available to professional accounts, meaning business or creator accounts [1].
In the mobile app
The app shows an insights overview covering views, interactions, new followers and the content you shared; you can tap each item for more detail, tap the (i) icon to see the definition of every metric, and pick a preset or custom timeframe within the past 90 days from the dropdown at the top of the screen [1]. For a single post, open it from your profile and tap «عرض الرؤى» (View insights) [3].
On the web at instagram.com
On the web you choose «لوحة المعلومات» (Dashboard) from the menu, then «الرؤى» (Insights) under the professional section if you have a professional account, or your dashboard under insights and tools if the account is personal. Next you choose account or content insights and set a date range of the last 7, 14, 30 or 90 days, or a custom range [2]. Post insights stay available to view for up to two years [3].
Before you read any numberTap the (i) icon next to the label. Instagram rolls some metrics out gradually and rewords them, so the definition inside your own app is the most accurate reference for your version.
A glossary of the Arabic interface: what each label means
The table below gathers the main labels you will see in the Arabic insights screens, with the English equivalent you may come across in articles and tools, and the meaning as Instagram's help pages explain it [1].
| Arabic label | English equivalent | Meaning in brief |
|---|---|---|
| المشاهدات | Views | How many times your content was played or displayed, across Reels, posts, Stories, live videos and ads |
| المشاهدون | Viewers | How many unique accounts saw your content on screen at least once, with demographic details about them |
| التفاعلات | Interactions | How many actions people took on your content, such as likes, comments, saves and shares |
| الحسابات المتفاعلة | Accounts engaged | How many unique accounts interacted with your content, with demographic details about them |
| إجمالي المتابعين | Total followers | Growth, top locations, age range and the times your followers are most active |
| المحتوى الذي شاركته | Content you shared | How many Stories, Reels and posts you published in the chosen period |
| نشاط الملف الشخصي | Profile activity | Actions people take when they visit your profile after engaging with your post |
Note that Instagram describes viewers and accounts engaged as estimated, in-development metrics, and that audience demographics require a preset timeframe and passing a certain number of accounts reached or engaged [1]. Total-followers trends appear once your account passes a minimum follower level set by the platform [1]. Reach, views and impressions: what changed?
If you are searching for what reach means on Instagram, it has traditionally meant the number of unique accounts that saw your content. Meta's developer documentation still defines the reach metric as the number of unique accounts that have seen your content at least once, and notes that it is estimated [5]. In today's Arabic interface, the closest label to that meaning is «المشاهدون» (viewers) [1].
Impressions, meaning the number of times content was displayed even to the same account, have been replaced by views. The developer documentation states that the impressions metric was deprecated in version 22.0 and then for all versions on 21 April 2025, with the new views metric introduced in its place [5]. So if you read an older article about impressions, remember that the figure you see in your app today is views under its new definition.
| The question | The number to look at |
|---|---|
| How many times was the content shown or played in total? | Views, which may include repeat viewing by the same account |
| How many different people saw the content? | Viewers, the closest equivalent to what used to be called reach |
| How many people did something after seeing it? | Accounts engaged |
A simple rule: if views are far higher than viewers, some people are re-watching your content or seeing it in more than one place. That is not bad in itself, but it means the number of new people you reached is smaller than the big figure suggests.
Post and Reel insights: saves, shares, profile activity and watch time
When you open the insights of a single post you see three main areas: views; interactions, which include likes, saves and shares; and profile activity, which measures what people do when they visit your profile after engaging with the post [3]. Meta's developer documentation defines saves as the number of times your posts, Reels and videos were saved, and shares as the number of times your posts, Stories, Reels, videos and live videos were shared [5].
Metrics specific to Reels
- Views on Reels: the number of times the Reel started to play or replayed [4].
- Watch time: the total time the Reel was played, including any replays [4].
- Average watch time: watch time divided by the number of initial plays, meaning the first time the Reel plays in a Reels session [4].
- Follows: the number of accounts that started following you as a result of watching the Reel [4].
Reel insights are available for Reels published on or after 14 May 2021, and for up to two years after the original posting date [4].
Profile visits, button taps and links
For professional accounts, the developer documentation lists a metric for taps on the contact options in your profile, such as the business address, call button, email button and text button [5]. How profile-activity details are displayed can vary from account to account, so tap (i) in your own app to see which items are available and how they are defined [1]. If your bio link leads to a store on Salla or Zid, compare what you see here with the visit statistics in your store dashboard.
What each number tells a small Gulf business
Numbers mean nothing on their own until you turn them into a question about your business. Take a hypothetical perfume and bakhoor shop in Jeddah that sells through an online store and takes orders on WhatsApp:
| Metric | The question it answers | What to do with the answer |
|---|---|---|
| Views | Did the content reach screens at all? | If it is consistently weak, review timing, the cover and the first two seconds |
| Viewers | How many different people saw the offer? | Compare content types to learn which ones reach new people |
| Saves | Did people see value worth coming back to? | Posts like how to choose oud oil deserve repeating in other formats |
| Shares | Did anyone send the content to a friend or relative? | Gift and occasion content often gets shared more, so watch it |
| Accounts engaged (followers and non-followers) | Is a new audience interacting, or only current followers? | If only followers engage, try topics that attract others |
| Profile activity | Did the post push anyone to visit the profile and get in touch? | Match it against WhatsApp messages and orders in the same week |
| Top locations | Is my audience in the cities I deliver to? | If your audience sits outside your delivery area, review hashtags and language |
For a different business, such as a café in Kuwait, the key question might be whether viewers come from the same area. Here the top cities in viewer data help, along with caption words and place names, which we cover in our guide to Arabic hashtags in MSA and Gulf dialect.
A 15-minute weekly routine
You do not need to open insights every hour. One fixed slot a week is enough, say Sunday morning in Saudi Arabia or Monday morning in the UAE, with a notebook or a simple file for your notes. Always choose the same timeframe, such as the last 7 days, so the comparison stays fair.
| Time | What to open | What to write down |
|---|---|---|
| Minutes 1 to 3 | The overview for the last 7 days | Views, interactions and new followers compared with the previous week |
| Minutes 4 to 6 | Content you shared, sorted by views | Your two best posts and your weakest one, with the format of each |
| Minutes 7 to 9 | Insights for the best post | Saves, shares and profile activity, and why you think it worked |
| Minutes 10 to 12 | Accounts engaged and top locations | Roughly how much came from non-followers, and whether the cities are ones you serve |
| Minutes 13 to 15 | A blank page | One decision only for next week, such as repeating a winning idea or testing a new time |
The value of this routine lies not in the numbers themselves but in the decision you write at the end. After two months you will have a clear record of what you tried and what came of it, which is more useful than any general average you read online.
How does foyup relate to these numbers?
If you want to raise the visible count of your account's followers or of a particular Reel's views, we offer Instagram follower packages and Instagram views. We would like you to understand the limits clearly before you decide.
An order needs nothing more than the public username or the public post link, and we will not ask for a password or account access at any stage. Before you pay, three details appear for every package: its price in US dollars, the expected delivery time and the refill period, which begins when delivery completes. After paying you get an order number to follow progress on the tracking page or by e-mail and to message WhatsApp support, and the amount for any quantity left undelivered is returned.
What the service does not doIt raises the visible number on what you choose and nothing more. It does not improve your content, we do not promise reach or sales with it, and it does not exempt you from ad disclosure or licensing obligations. Keep in mind that any added count will show up in your insights, so do not confuse it with content-driven growth in your weekly review. foyup is run by Social Developer LTD and is independent of Instagram and every other platform.
Common mistakes when reading insights
- Comparing a Ramadan or Eid week with an ordinary week and concluding that your content got worse or better, when your audience's whole routine changed.
- Judging the account on a single strong or weak post instead of looking at the trend over several weeks.
- Comparing different timeframes, such as the last 7 days this week against the last 30 days last week.
- Comparing Reel views directly with photo views, even though Reels count every start or replay.
- Treating metrics that Instagram itself calls estimated and in development as precise, final figures.
- Switching the account to private for a while and then wondering where the insights went.
- Reading an old article about impressions and hunting for them in an app that no longer shows them.
In short, insights are a tool for making one small decision each week, not a scoreboard to judge yourself by every day. Learn what each Arabic label means, keep the timeframe fixed, separate the seasons from ordinary weeks, and you will find the numbers start telling you what your audience actually wants.
Questions about this topic
Do I need a business account to see insights?
No. According to Instagram's help pages, a public account is enough, whether personal or professional. Boosting posts and ad insights, however, are only available to professional accounts.
Why can't I see age and city data about my audience?
Audience demographics require a preset timeframe and passing a certain number of accounts reached or engaged. If they do not appear for the last 7 days, try a longer preset such as the last 30 or 90 days.
How far back can I check the insights of an old post?
Post insights can be viewed for up to two years, and Reel insights likewise for up to two years after the posting date. The account overview, by contrast, covers any period within the past 90 days.
What is the difference between interactions and accounts engaged?
Interactions count the actions themselves: if one person likes, saves and shares a post, that is three actions. Accounts engaged counts the unique people who interacted, so that person is counted once.
